Myer will be relaunching its online stores later in the year, with CEO Bernie Brookes saying the two current options – Myer.com.au and MyFind.com – were “average” websites.

Brookes made these comments this morning at a retail seminar attended by Current.com.au. After first comparing Myer’s online sites to leading airlines, he then announced an imminent relaunch.

“From the perspective of online, we have two offers: one is called a traditional Myer.com and one is MyFind,” explained Brookes. “A good way to think of it is one’s a Qantas type website and one’s a Jetstar website. “

“[MyFind] is a deal of the day format that you see quite often. It comes out of Hong Kong — GST free, Duty free, about 600-800 products. Our Myer site has 8,000 lines including new season fashion.

“They’re average websites at best. They’re going to become state-of-the-art websites as we’re spending a significant sum of money at the moment to get them fully operational and relaunched more properly a little bit later this year.”

Despite using such a negative word to describe Myer’s online proposition, Brookes said the stores were turning over around $5 million per year and growing.
