Sony Ericsson Australia has just released its latest handset, the Aino, which gives consumers the unique ability to control their Sony Playstation 3 via the handset and access its stored photos, music and video files.

The Sony Ericsson Aino achieves this by using Remote Play, a service initially developed for use with the PS3 and PSP. Through Remote Play, users can access the PS3 via a local network between the PS3 and the Aino in the home or from anywhere in the world via the internet.

Another interesting application for the Aino is Media Home, which pulls media content from Media Go on your PC over WiFi to your phone automatically. Sony Ericsson has made this very easy to do for consumers, due to the fact that they only have to plug the handset into its charging base and it does all the work from there.

In terms of the handset, the Aino features both a slide out keypad and a touch user interface while in media mode, as well as a 3 inch screens, 8.1 megapixel camera and photo flash.

“Sony Ericsson has established itself as THE Communication Entertainment brand and Aino highlights our commitment to bringing the latest communication technology to the market in fun and innovative ways for consumers to enjoy,” said Steve Wilson, managing director – Market Unit Oceania, Sony Ericsson.

“Media Home and Remote Play with PLAYSTATION 3 are key steps in broadening the entertainment experiences users can enjoy on their Sony Ericsson phone and gives a taste of our vision of the future.”

The Sony Ericsson Aino is available now and comes at an RRP of $949. To help make the sale more enticing, the company has also included free Wireless Stereo Headphones MH100 and matching Charging Stand EC100 for free.
