SYDNEY: Europe’s leading iPod accessory brand, Gear4, has announced the release of a high-performance speaker system designed specifically for Sony’s Playstation Portable (PSP) handheld gaming device.

“Gear4 is proud to equip a new generation of PSP users to break the sound barrier. We’re certain that there isn’t a better home stereo speaker system designed for the PSP currently on the market,” said Disruptive Technology Channels Australian managing director, Jamie Dudderidge.

“[We are] Europe’s number one home-grown iPod accessory brand and we aim to emulate this success within other digital product sectors such as gaming, multimedia and telecommunications.”

Distributed by Shriro Australia, the Sonic Boom (RRP $169) is a 2.1 stereo speaker system with ActiveBass sub-woofer technology specifically designed for use with the Playstation Portable but also able to used with mp3 players, laptops and iPods, or anything which uses standard headphone outputs.

Featuring a docking station, the Sonic Boom will charge a PSP while in use, and will also include a two metre Freestyle cable to allow remote operation of the PSP while the Sonic Boom is in use.

Gear4 entered the Australian market in June this year and supply accessories for gaming, multimedia and telecommunications products.
