Sunbeam is celebrating a win for its combined sous vide/slow cooker appliance after taking out the Kitchen Appliance best in category award at the Product of the Year Awards. Sunbeam was among more than 40 category winners, largely from the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, including well known brands such as Nivea, Cadbury and Birds Eye.
The small appliance brand was also joined by other appliance winners including Electrolux, Oral-B and Panasonic, which was recognised with three separate best in category awards for refrigerators, air conditioners and TVs.

Speaking about the award, which Sunbeam picked up for its Duos Sous Vide & Slow Cooker, Sunbeam product manager for cooking, Nicole Norton, said the brand was happy to be recognised.
Sunbeam is proud to receive the Product of the Year 2014 Award, the largest consumer survey of product innovation. As a consumer voted award, winners are chosen by those that will purchase and use the product and so is therefore a great indicator not only of product innovation but also functionality, performance and value.
The Product of the Year award is unique and different from most awards as winners are selected by consumers, and this year over 16,000 Australian consumers were surveyed. Products are not selected by industry experts or designers, but by consumers who can look at how a product will be used and its value for money in a different light.
Whether the customer is looking for a Sous Vide or a Slow Cooker, the award provides reassurance and peace of mind to consumers who are looking at purchasing.The Product of the Year Award is similar to a ‘seal of approval’ — it is judged from hundreds of product entries, so any product that has this award logo can be viewed as the best in its category.
