Among the major mass retailers, Target actually has quite a good record with recalls on home brands. The last time Target recalled an electrical product was in August 2012, when a it was discovered that the wiring in the cord on a Sieger brand steam mop could become exposed, leading to a risk of electric shock. Before that, Target recalled a Base brand portable DVD player for a similar reason in July 2011. These are Target’s only two recalls in recent history.

For comparison, since the start of 2012, Target’s rival Big W has enacted seven recalls on products such as capsule coffee machines, blenders, toasters, convection ovens, LED lights and deep fryers. Most of these recalls were for Big W’s Abode brand.
