It has been announced that approximately 2,000 world travel adaptors distributed in Target stores are being recalled due to potential safety concerns, including electric shock, death or property damage.
Import Manteau Pty Ltd (known as Travelgoods.com), the supplier of the TDA02 Diplomat Travel Adaptor, has announced that approximately 2000 units have been distributed through Target stores nationally between 20 September 2008 and June 2009.
The reason for the recall is that the plug which is intended for use in the USA can be rotated to fit into an Australian socket, these plugs are not insulated and create a potential safety hazard.
In addition to this it has been found that it is possible to connect two of the components together and insert them into a live socket, with a live pin overhanging.
Customers are being urged to return the adaptor to their nearest Target store for a full refund. It is being expressly stated that under no circumstances should you use or continue to use the product.
