Denon DVD

Following on from their highly acclaimed DVD-1730 player released last year, Denon announce the new DVD-1740 player that amongst many new innovations offers 1080p upscaling via HDMI to its already impressive feature list.

As a 1080p, 1080i and 720p compatible player, the DVD-1740 is the ideal partner for full HD or HD ready TV. To realize the best from these high resolution formats, the DVD-1740 features HDMI output together with 1 x Component video and 1 x SCART output. In addition, the DVD-1740 also features two digital audio outputs.

At the heart of all these advanced technologies are the latest 12-bit/108kHz video DACs and 24-bit/192kHz Burr Brown audio DACs, plus discrete video circuitry together with separate analogue and digital circuit boards for the highest quality performance.

Technologies that result in optimum 1080p resolution producing superb detail, making intricate textures and patterns look much more focused. Similarly, deep and true to colour blacks offer greater subtlety when it comes to displaying dark scenes with no trace of MPEG black noise. Similarly advances in technology also ensure other types of ‘noises’ are eliminated, ensuring the image looks sharp and forceful.

As per all Denon DVD players, the 1740 supports an impressive range of disc and file formats including; CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, MP3, and WMA9 audio files and also reads Kodak CD and J-Peg images. With the increasing popularity of DVD recorders and the recording of TV programmes to disc, the DVD-1740 will also playback DVD-R and DVD-RW discs.

A logically structured and easy to use set-up menu offers a choice of Quick and Custom menus, the former presenting you with a shortlist of the key settings allowing you to get up and running quickly, while the Custom menu covers all the available options. Similarly, the infra-red remote is uncluttered and thoughtfully designed, boasting well-placed menu buttons and clear labeling. Its 40 button infra remote control feature addresses all the player’s functions.

Other notable features include VSS or Virtual Surround Sound that allows you to enjoy surround sound from just one pair of speakers. A Picture Zoom feature enables you to enlarge the picture by 2 or 4 times and the cursor enables you to move the enlarged area within the screen.

The Denon DVD-1740 is covered by a nationwide two year warranty, has an RRP $349 and is available at authorised dealers throughout Australia. For further information on this and other Denon products call 1300 134 400 or visit www.denon.com.au.
