LG Electronics is supporting this year’s Boost Mobile Rock the Schools tour by coming on board as official mobile phone handset sponsor of the event.

The tour travels to 70 regional and metropolitan High Schools across Australia, giving students a free education on the diverse range of careers within the music industry and treating them to a rock concert by Australian local bands, such as The Take, Stone Parade and Claire Clarke.

The tour will commence on 4 May 2009 in Melbourne and will run for 15 weeks; LG will be promoting its new KS360 webslider handset throughout the duration.

“We are very excited to be aligned not only with this event but also with Boost Mobile as they help position our youth-orientated products to the youth market,” said Nathan Dunn, general manager mobile communications, LG Electronics Australia.

LG will be providing live demos of the KS360 Webslider at the concerts, as well as other youth orientated activities including: an online drive to gain more information about the handset and get consumer feedback, LG Webslider giveaways through media channels, product placement in the music video of the tour bands where each band member receives a LG Webslider, VIP treatment for Webslider owners at each concert and face in the crowd competitions for schools.

The official patron of the event is Federal Minister for the Arts and former Midnight Oil front man, Peter Garrett.

The LG KS360 Webslider features a MP3 player, QWERTY keyboard, FM radio, camera, Bluetooth and a 10 MB internal memory.

Other partners for the event include Boost Mobile, Guitar Hero World Tour, SUPRE, MySpace, Girlfriend, Habbo and Channel V.
