Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Nexus smartphone this week – the first device to operate on Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system (the next incarnation to follow Gingerbread and the tablet-only Honeycomb OS).

The device will feature a contour display of curved glass with a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD 720p screen. It will boast a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera optimised for low light and Near Field Communication capability.

The biggest question is what kind of consumer will be attracted to this device, considering the glut of smartphones already available in the marketplace.
