Smeg Australia MD reflects on 2020

Smeg Australia managing director, Jim Kalotheos has reflected on 2020 and the impact of Covid-19 on the Smeg business in an exclusive video interview with Appliance Retailer.

He discusses putting the safety and wellbeing of staff at the forefront, the company’s response to the Victorian lockdown, as well as changing market dynamics including shifts in consumer behaviour as people use their home appliances more often and turn to quality and trusted brands.

Kalotheos then goes on to discuss the challenges of launching new products in a virtual world, the upcoming release of a new training app for sales staff and the recently launched virtual showroom offering for customers who are unable to visit the showroom in-person.

He says Smeg has also focused on its social media channels as a communication tool with customers by sharing recipes, stories of kitchen designs and inviting customer feedback.
