SYDNEY: Samsung Electronics Australia has promoted audio product manager, Michael Apte, to AV marketing manager.

Apte will report directly to Samsung Electronics general manager – CE marketing, Mark Beard, and will be responsible for all budgeting and marketing communications for the audio visual division including above-the-line consumer marketing and below-the-line activities including trade marketing such as point of sale and brochures.

“Samsung AV has had a very successful start to 2006, with successful new categories and significant growth in sales and market share. I look forward to working with our team to consolidate that growth in the second half of the year and plan for the future.” Apte said.

According to Beard, Apte has proven to be a valuable asset to Samsung over the past year, and has established
Samsung as a leading player in the MP3 market.

“This is a redefined role that focused on marketing across all of our AV products. Michael has demonstrated that he understands Samsung retail channels and our extensive range of AV products and has a proven relationship with dealers,” Beard told Current.com.au.

Apte will continue to oversee the mp3 and home theatre product areas, until his replacement has been found.
