Uniden is launching the app-enabled XTRAK Pro Series of UHF radios with an industry-first location sharing feature on the handheld models.

The range includes in-vehicle and handheld UHF radios, with both able to track and share the user’s exact location through the XTRAK Bluetooth app to ensure contact is always possible.

Designed and engineered in Japan, the Uniden XTRAK Pro features a large anti-glare OLED display and backlit keypad on the in-vehicle UHF radio. A powerful integrated two-watt speaker and four level voice enhancers enable maximum sound clarity. Bluetooth connection is available on the XTRAK 80 Pro for connecting to the vehicle’s audio speakers.

Uniden’s one touch instant replay has been a popular feature of Uniden in-vehicle UHF radios for many years and is an industry first for UHF handheld radios with the Uniden XTRAK Series. A Smart Key helps users toggle between instant channel, call tone or equaliser.

Pairing with the Bluetooth XTRAK app, available for iOS and Android, immediately pinpoints a map position with the UHF radio, and provides access to settings to manage Selcall contacts and extra receive channels, as well as sending in-app text messages.

Uniden UHF radios are designed and built to withstand harsh conditions. The magnetic microphone mount across both in-vehicle XTRAK and XTRAK Pro provides quick access and keeps the mobile safe and secure when driving. The XTRAK 50 UHF Handheld Series is waterproof, offering a range of up to 17km with 30 hours of operating time.

Uniden national communications manager, Brad Hales said the brand is proud of the new range of the XTRAK Pro UHF radios.

“Back in 2005 we released a UHF in-car and UHF handheld with GPS location support, but it was too early for the market and 16 years later we are back with an industry leading product,” he told Appliance Retailer.

“Having a location sharing UHF radio that is portable in the handheld and one for the in-vehicle makes it the complete product that the market demands. We are also proud that we have been able to apply the instant replay function feature across all of the XTRAK series including the UHF handheld radios.”

The Uniden XTRAK 80 and XTRAK 50 UHF radios will be available from late August for RRP $449.95 and $329.95 respectively, while Uniden’s XTRAK 80 Pro and 50 Pro will be released in late September for RRP $549.95 and $449.95 respectively.
