Netgear has announced a national recall of some Powerline Ethernet adaptors sold during 2006 to 2007.

While no reports of problems have been received by the company in any market, what a spokesperson called “routine internal testing” showed certain XE 103 and 104 models could malfunction in 220 to 240 volt environments, causing the product to stop working and possibly overheat.

The model numbers affected are:

• XE103-100AUS, FSS, GRS, ISS, UKS, NAS. XE103-100AUB, ISB, UKB, NAB.
• XE103-100NAR. XE103G-100FRS, FSS, GRS, ISS, UKS.
• XE104G-100FSS, UKS.
• XEPSB103-100AUS, GRS, ISS, UKS.

The units were manufactured in 2006 and 2007.

According to a spokesperson, approximately 2100 of the affected models were sold in Australia.

Models sold for the North American market and others which use the 100-120 volt range are not affected by the recall.

Consumers who have purchased any of the above listed models should cease using the devices immediately and remove them from the mains socket.

Owners of the affected models should contact their local toll-free Netgear customer service office on 1300 361 254.
