SYDNEY: After five years of research and development to understand the kitchen needs of Australian families, Westinghouse has launched the Boss range of built-in ovens addressing consumer concerns regarding space management and energy efficient appliances.

Westinghouse’s research revealed that a major concern amongst Australian families is energy efficiency and conservation, particularly in regards to the use of household appliances and products.

Also uncovered by Westinghouse’s research, was that 54 per cent of Australian families desire a larger oven that will fit in their existing kitchen space. With 66 litres of useable space, the Boss range allows consumers to enjoy a larger internal capacity in the standard 600×600 size.

“Our designers and engineers met the challenges arising from the work of our insights team, developing a range of ovens with Australian families’ interests at heart,” said Westinghouse director of cooking and dishcare, John Brown.

The Boss range is also able to heat to 200 degrees in less than 10 minutes while boasting features which allow for easier cleaning, such as a glass backed oven door and internal curves as opposed to corners.

“The new Westinghouse Boss range is the answer to the brief for an innovative, efficient and effective oven system that can hold more, be kind on power bills, cook better and be easier to use,” said Brown.

Boss ovens also feature odour-free insulation, a quiet oven fan for even heat distribution and an improved cooling and venting system to reduce oven emissions.

The first oven in the Boss range, to be released this month, is the PON668S/W single oven with full width inner door, drop down grill element, eight cooking functions, program timer and catalytic panels. The complete Boss line-up will consist of duo, side opening, gas and separate grill under-bench ovens, all to be released in 2006.
