The winner of Canon’s 2015 Environmental Grants Program, Queensland Junction Park State School, has attracted the attention of acclaimed photographer and member of the Order of Australia Steve Parish.

To ensure the effective use of the Canon equipment ,Parish has decided to help the students with their Project Pollination and dedicated time to give a hands on workshop on how to ‘tell a story’ with photos.

Junction Park State School has developed a project that encourages students to develop an intimate knowledge of pollinators, to raise awareness of the vital role they play in the future of our food production.

Students will plant a new butterfly garden to monitor insects and use the new Canon equipment to capture and identify pollinators and qualify pollination activity. Data from project pollination will be submitted to the website Wild Pollinator Count to become part of real scientific data.
