Sony has brought in two laser home projectors featuring the world’s smallest Native 4K SXRD 0.61-inch panel for a complete home theatre experience within a compact chassis design.

The VPL-XW7000ES comes with 3,200lm of brightness and Live Colour Enhancer that suits lighter living spaces when viewing films, sports and games. It also has a new 70mm diameter Advanced Crisp Focused (ACF) lens with aspherical front element and floating focus system for large screen clarity.

The VPL-XW5000ES 2,000lm laser model delivers higher contrast and object-based HDR remastering for powerful real-time picture processing. Both models bring over a billion colours to life by TRILUMINOS PRO with 95% DCI-P3 Colour Gamut.

Power comes via Sony’s X1 “Ultimate for projector”, picture processor based on technology used for its BRAVIA TV series that has been optimised for the new projectors.

“These new models show our continued commitment to developing products that provide extraordinary viewing experiences whilst delivering more value to the consumer with each generation,” Sony Home Cinema product manager for professional displays and solutions, Anna Tan said.

Compared to the VPL-VW790ES, the VPL-XW7000ES is 20% smaller in size and 30% lighter in weight and the VPL-XW5000ES is 30% smaller in size and 35% lighter in weight.

Plastic used to encase the VPL-XW7000 has been reduced by 30% and packaging materials reduced 15%. Power consumption on the VPL-XW5000 has been reduced by 30%. Both models are built with a mercury free laser light source.

RRP for the VPL-XW7000ES is $25,499 (black), and $9,999 for the VPL-XW5000ES (black and white), both available from mid-June.
