Sony’s latest flagship smartphones – the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact – are now available with world-first advancements in mobile camera, display and audio technology, along with a new design.
The Xperia XZ2 (RRP $1,099) is now available at JB Hi-Fi, Kogan and amaysim online, as well as Sony kiosks and online. The smartphone will soon be available through Telstra also. The Xperia XZ2 Compact (RRP $949) is now available at Kogan and amaysim online, as well as Sony kiosks and online.
The new Sony Xperia XZ2 offers an extended 5.7-inch HDR Full HD+ display; Sony’s Bravia TV technology, X-reality for mobile that up-converts content to near HDR; a new Dynamic Vibration System (DVS) with haptic vibrations, and front-facing stereo speakers featuring S-Force Surround Sound for cinema-quality audio.

Sony Mobile managing director of Oceania, John Featherstone said, “The immersive entertainment features available in the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are inspired by a significant shift in consumer behaviour in Australia.
“According to our new consumer research, 40 per cent of millennial Australians consider their smartphone their primary source for creating and consuming entertainment content. Because of this, there is a growing desire for mobile technology that elevates the emotional and sensory experience of consuming content on the go.”
The Xperia XZ2 features Sony Mobile’s Motion Eye camera with the world’s first 4K HDR video recording capabilities in a smartphone, as well as Full HD 960FPS Super slow motion capture. In addition, the world-first native 3D creation feature – 3D Creator – allows users to create 3D scans of themselves using the front camera. Post-processing and direct posting to Facebook are also now available.
A large 3180mAh battery and the most power efficient control ever thanks to its 845 Mobile Platform, smart battery features are also included, such as Smart Stamina, STAMINA mode, Battery Care, and Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology.
Its new design boasts a fluid 3D glass surface contrasted by a tough exterior, built with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and a metal frame for extra durability and premium feel. Certified IP65/IP68 to withstand splashes and spills, there are four colour variants – Liquid Silver, Liquid Black, Deep Green and Ash Pink.

The world’s most compact 5-inch smartphone, the Sony XZ2 Compact boasts a 5-inch HDR Full HD+ extended display, powerful stereo speakers and the same Motion Eye 2018 upgrades as the XZ2 including 3D Creator with Selfie Mode and Full HD Super slow-motion.
Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, it features the same design philosophy as XZ2 in four colours – White Silver, Black, Moss Green, and Coral Pink.
A range of supporting accessories are available, including the new Style Cover Touch and Style Cover Stand, a Wireless Charging Dock (WCH20); Quick Charger UCH12W and a USB Type-C 2-in-1 Cable (EC270).
