Sony has announced a new addition to its soundbar range, the HT-A5000 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos soundbar.

Featuring Sony’s advanced surround sound technology, Vertical Surround Engine, the front speakers and up-firing speakers reproduce ‘vertical’ audio meaning the soundbar can position sound in a vertical space for improved overhead and multi-dimensional sound

This is supported by S-Force Pro Front Surround which makes an even wider horizontal sound field using the front X-Balanced Speaker Unit and Sony’s unique digital sound field processing technology to reproduce a large and immersive sound field horizontally.

For a more personalised sound experience, the HT-A5000 comes with Sound Field Optimisation with built-in microphones that measure the height and width of the room to optimise sound according to the room layout.

In addition to a built-in dual subwoofer for deep bass and two up-firing speakers, the soundbar features two side beam tweeters to expand surround sound.

With High-Resolution Audio, users can enjoy music the way the artist intended or discover a new way of listening with 360 Reality Audio which can be enjoyed on Deezer, nugs.net and TIDAL.

The HT-A5000 works with Spotify Connect, Chromecast built-in, Apple Airplay 2, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to stream music from a smartphone with just a tap. For gaming or movies, the soundbar supports the latest formats such as 8K HDR, 4K 120fps and Dolby Vision.

There are optional subwoofers to support the HT-A5000 including the SA-SW5 featuring 300-watts of bass from a 180mm driver with passive radiator and the SA-SW3 featuring 200-watts of sound from a compact bass reflex subwoofer with 160mm driver. There is also optional rear speakers, the SA-RS3S, that deliver 100-watts of wider surround sound and can be wall mounted.

Sporting a premium minimalist omnidirectional block design with rounded edges, set-up is easy thanks to HDM eARC, optical-in and USB port. The soundbar also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

Sony’s HT-A5000 will be available in Australia from March 2022 for SRP $1,299.
