Sonos Australia and New Zealand has confirmed plans to appoint a distributor to support its 400-plus independent retailers with the aim to enhance the service experience and increase capacity across the region.
Sonos senior manager – audio visual specialist (AVS)/installed solutions (IS) partners for ANZ and senior manager – business development for Asia Pacific, Richard O’Carroll is currently responsible for engaging with these dealers.
“The appointment of a distributor would see multiple representatives in various states in Australia, as well as New Zealand, to respond quickly to the individual needs of the dealers,” he told Appliance Retailer.
According to O’Carroll, Sonos has experienced substantial growth over the last 18 months with strong demand for its Arc soundbars, Sub wireless subwoofers and Amp wireless amplifiers in particular, as well as an increased desire for fully integrated systems – delivered, installed, and configured.
“Our AVS/IS partners are perfectly positioned to deliver these solutions, as well as consult and advise on the additional possibilities available to customers,” he said.
During the first several months of Covid-19, Sonos changed the trading terms to AVS/IS dealers to make doing business easier and more profitable.
“While some suppliers were increasing costs, Sonos ANZ eliminated shipping costs and credit card fees, froze prices and offered additional discounts to dealer employees for personal purchases.”
Looking ahead, O’Carroll said there are no signs of a slowdown in spending in the consumer electronics category, as travel remains limited and people continue to spend money on their homes.
“Customers appreciate the value of great sound, easy experience and premium design. Sonos has always delivered on these points. Add to these the ability to choose from dozens of music services, as well as multiple voice assistants to curate and control your music and TV experience,” he said.
“This provides a combination that is unique in the CE market and makes Sonos an attractive brand for a large and growing number of customers.”
