Sonos has unveiled the Sonos Beam Generation 2 with Dolby Atmos support and new hi-fi streaming options from Amazon Music for RRP $699.

Other updates to the latest generation Beam include a more powerful processor, an improved phased array, and HDMI eARC compatibility, as well as an improved design featuring a new premium polycarbonate grille.

Incorporating five Class-D digital amplifiers, one centre tweeter, four elliptical midwoofers and three passive radiators, the Beam Gen 2 offers an enhanced audio experience. The far-field microphone array uses advanced beamforming and multi-channel echo cancellation for quick and accurate voice control.

Advanced audio processing precisely localises, moves, and times specific sounds throughout the room for more lifelike sound, while Trueplay adapts the sound for the unique acoustics of the room.

Using the accompanying app, users can adjust bass, treble and loudness, as well as enable Speech Enhancement to amplify voices to help follow the story, while Night Sound reduces the intensity of loud effects and enhances quieter sounds when watching TV without disturbing others.
