Smeg introduced an innovative approach to grilling and barbecuing at this year’s Eurocucina in Milan with the debut of new electric built-in barbecues.

Confirmed for launch in Australia, with timing yet to be announced, the barbecue collection will be available in 60cm with single element, 90cm with double element and 120cm with triple element.

“With barbecue culture so entrenched in Australian lifestyle, we are excited to bring a new, innovative, and sustainable offering to the outdoor cooking category. This type of product development allows Smeg to have meaningful presence in the outdoor cooking space, perfectly complementing the premium indoor cooking ranges available in various aesthetics and styles,” Smeg product manager for major domestic appliances, Romina Becerra told Appliance Retailer.

A modular design finished in a heavy-duty stainless steel construction offers a clean yet professional style to adapt to any outdoor setting, whether an alfresco, terrace, balcony, or garden, or indoors in the kitchen.

The marine grade stainless steel exterior also makes the barbecues suitable for use on boats.

The electric heating element is tracked to the moulded underside of the grill plate for quick and even heat transfer, reaching high temperatures in minutes.

With the option of grill and flat plates, both are constructed of lightweight aluminum with non-stick coating making them easy to handle and are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. The grill plate is perforated for effective grease draining, while the flat plate has a uniform surface for teppanyaki cooking.

The premium backlit knob control displays red LED lighting to indicate when the grill is heating up.
