Sangean has taken its outdoor radio line-up to a new level with the MMR-99 rechargeable emergency and outdoor radio. This upgrade over its predecessor comes with new features and a memory bank that can hold up to 40 AM/FM radio stations. It also has an auto-tuning system, adjustable band width and emergency light.

The handheld Bluetooth radio can be charged by hand cranking, DC-in power by USB Type-C or solar power. And the connections work both ways for charging smaller devices.

There is an inbuilt flashlight with lighting modes for different situations or emergencies, including a warmer light for campfire conversations or brighter light when needed.

It can charge in or out with both USB-A and USB-C cables, comes with a strap for ease of use and weighs less than 1kg, for fitting neatly into a backpack.

“As someone who loves camping and the great outdoors, the MMR 99 is the perfect Bluetooth radio for any conditions” Canohm marketing manager Daniel Grozdan said.

“It’s an all-in-one solution that makes packing for a trip easier and more enjoyable. I can use it to set alarms, charge my phone overnight and listen to my favourite podcast over breakfast,” he said.

Available in desert tan or forest green, it is distributed locally by Canohm for $249 RRP.
