Adelaide based retailer Rawsons Elite Appliances has come up with a novel way of securing extra face time with its suppliers partners, as well as local designers and architects: fitting out an old bus with beer fridges and coffee machines and then using it to socialise and network while in transit.

“We don’t wait around for businesses to come to us — I go out and get them,” said sales director Jon Pysing.

“We bring in groups of time-poor builders, architects and designers to our store in Unley. There, our resident chef Simon demonstrates the latest from Miele, Gaggenau, Bora and Smeg, which really delights them. A drink or two on the way in sets the mood for a fun afternoon.”

Pysing said Rawsons has also used the bus to travel to picnics and into the hills for wine tasting.

“The odd day out on the green with a group of suppliers for a picnic and fine wines also goes down a treat for maintaining relationships,” he said.
