GEELONG: The Geelong Advertiser is reporting that a 25-year-old drug addict has been sentenced to seven months jail after being convicted of stealing more than $10,000 worth of products from Harvey Norman stores in Melbourne.
Lewis Shay, who is described as a “serial computer thief”, had an uncomplicated modus operandi, with the court hearing that in February and March this year, he would enter stores, pick up computers from displays and walk out without visiting a cash register.
Shay was also convicted of car theft charges, attempted theft charges and other related charges.
The Advertiser also reports that earlier in 2008, Shay and an accomplice stole a computer, cash and a cheque book from a Swagman Tours shop in Geelong.
