Panasonic is introducing the LUMIX S9, the smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera in the LUMIX S Series, weighing just 403 grams. Available in a choice of five colours – Jet Black, Crimson Red, Dark Olive, Night Blue and Dark Silver – the LUMIX S9 is designed for creators on the go.

The LUMIX S9 makes it possible to enjoy a range of popular, classic or bespoke colour styles in-camera with the popular Real Time LUT function via a new dedicated button on the camera body.

In addition, the new LUMIX Lab app enables creators to develop their own unique signature presets (LUT colour files) on their smart devices. This means users can generate original and shareable stills and videos without the need of post-production editing on a computer. The speed of transferring data from camera to smartphone has also been improved with the new app, making it possible to shoot and share to social media in 30 seconds.

Panasonic product marketing manager for imaging, Aaron Waters said, “Now it’s quick and seamless to share stunning full frame images. The agile S9 is equipped to not only elevate your creative output, but also allow you to share it with the world in an instant.”

Rich detail with natural tones is delivered via the 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor (equivalent to the LUMIX S5II) and the latest engine. The camera is equipped with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus) for precise subject tracking and Active I.S. which significantly reduces blurring from camera shake.

The LUMIX S9 introduces a new recording format; MP4 Lite. Capturing the full sensor height enables flexible framing (Open Gate) recorded in 10-bit 30p/25p. Therefore, creators can capture high quality videos optimised for smartphone, and easily resize aspect ratios to suit social media with the LUMIX Lab app.

The LUMIX S9 will be available in Australia in June 2024 from leading photographic retailers for RRP $2,699 (body only) and $3,299 (camera and lens kits).

Panasonic also confirmed two new S Series lenses designed to match the LUMIX S9.

The LUMIX S 26mm F8 (S-R26) is a compact and lightweight full frame lens, with a versatile 26mm wide angle. This pancake lens is the perfect alternative to a body cap and can capture sharp images with its deep F8 aperture.

The tactile manual focus ring allows full control of close and far focusing while also offering convenient ‘set and forget’ for snapshots. The slim pocket-sized design (around 58 grams and 18.1mm length) enhances portability.

The new lens will be available in Australia in June 2024 from leading photographic retailers.

Coming soon is the new LUMIX S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 lens. A compact and versatile zoom lens ideal for daily use, the upcoming 18-40mm has closest shooting distance of 0.15m. This lens covers focal lengths from an ultra-wide angle of 18mm to a semi-standard 40mm to capture expansive landscapes and buildings or portrait shots.
