Panasonic today announced the Australian prices for its new mirrorless camera the Lumix DMC-GH4, which will be available in early May, and also unveiled a new interchangeable lens for the Lumix G Series range.
Announced last month, the Lumix DMC-GH4 is a new micro four-thirds camera which can shoot video Ultra HD (4K) at 3,840 x 2,160: four times the pixels as Full HD. The shutter has been designed for a lifespan of up to 200,000 releases and the 16.05-megapixel camera has a 2.3 million dot Live View Finder and newly developed dual OLED displays for reviewing images and video.
The camera is aimed at professional photographers and videographers, with features to support commercial editing and production. The Wi-Fi connectivity has been enhanced by Near Field Communication (NFC) for simple pairing with a smartphone or tablet, with QR code scanning available for non-NFC devices.

The camera body is RRP $1,999. The price jumps to RRP $3,999 with the inclusion of the interface unit which has been specially developed to allow for powerful video transmission from the GH4 to professional external monitors and recorders.
The GH4 is compatible with 23 Lumix G digital interchangeable lenses, including a new F1.7 High Speed Single Focal Length lens (Leica DG Summilux 15mm/F1.7 ASPH), announced today. This lens will be available in Australia in June 2014 in both black and silver, RRP $799.
The lens is equipped with an aperture ring and AF/MF switch for direct, intuitive operation. It has a high-quality metal design and mount, which is designed to be reliable and durable in the field.
The GH4 will be available early May, 2014 in the following kits:
