SYDNEY: Sharp has launched two Aquos LCD TVs featuring built-in high definition tuners and HD-ready panels into the expanding digital integrated TV segment.

The 32-inch LC32BD6X (RRP $2,799) and the 37-inch LC37BD6X (RRP $3,899) both feature high definition capable 1366×768 resolution LCD panels and integrated HD digital tuners for out of the box, full-quality widescreen viewing.

The integrated HDTV segment has seen rapid growth in 2006 as more suppliers enter the market with expanded offerings.

Digital Broadcasting Australia (DBA) recently released GfK figures for the second quarter of 2006 revealing significant sales growth in the integrated digital TV segment for the second quarter of 2006.

Sales of digital integrated TVs in Q2 2006 rose 63 per cent over the corresponding period in 2005, with over 53,000 units sold.

The quarterly sales result almost reached the total 2005 sales result of 57,741 integrated digital TVs.

Both of Sharp’s new models feature an HDMI input for high quality digital to digital connection of peripherals such as DVD players and new high definition optical disc players such as Blu-ray.

Other features include 450cd/m2 brightness, 1200:1 contrast ratio, digital amplification for audio clarity and the Advanced Optical Picture Control feature which adjusts the backlight according to the ambient lighting conditions in the room.
