Whirlpool Australia has announced a company restructure, with almost 10 per cent of the Australian workforce being “affected” by this decision.

In a short statement released overnight, general manager of sales Sanjay Prasad said this move was made to assist sell-through.

“Following a review of our existing structure, we saw the need to shift our focus and resources to sell-through and training,” Prasad said.

“The decision will strengthen our position in the marketplace and we are confident that this will provide us with a stronger platform to move forward in 2012”.

The statement said this restructure was being undertaken due to “tough market conditions”. Furthermore, it said Whirlpool’s product focus for 2012 would be in on a new top mount refrigerator range and the cooking category.
