Godfreys has issued a recall of its Turbo Dust Interceptor electric vacuum cleaner attachment, due to potential dangers posed to consumers.

The vacuum attachment has the part number 31300513 and the serial numbers 11141000, 11371000, 12021000, 11221000, and was sold in Godfreys stores across Australia and New Zealand between 30 June 2011 and 29 February 2012.

According to a statement released to the ACCC, “The product may contain defective internal electrical contact pins [and] if the pins become exposed, they may pose a risk of electrocution.” The product also has the potential to cause electric shock or burns.

Consumers have been advised to immediately cease using the product and to disconnect it from the vacuum cleaner.

“For their safety, consumers must not operate their vacuum cleaners with this unit attached,” the ACCC said. “The product should be returned to the nearest Godfreys store where it will be immediately exchanged for a non-faulty unit.”
