Nescafe are importing one of the top coffee artists in the United States, Michael Breach, to Australia in order to promote their Dolce Gusto capsule machines, in the campaign to inspire café-quality coffee making at home.

The Nescafe Dolce Gusto provides the canvas and, using a bamboo skewer, Breach creates intricate portraits of celebrities in cappuccino foam.

The Barista made a name for himself by posting his designs online, which include Leonardo DiCappuccino, a mug shot of Justin Bieber and Al Cap-puccino.

“Australians have a great reputation as coffee lovers and I’m excited to be bringing my coffee art to Australia to show how café-quality coffee, and coffee art, is possible at home with Nescafe’s Dolce Gusto machine.

“Coffee art is about enjoying coffee; savouring the flavour and each coffee moment. I think everyone deserves great coffee,” says Michael Breach, aka Mr ‘Baristart’.

The combination of art and coffee will be on display at pop-up cafes in Sydney and Melbourne from 24 to 31 of March, where spectators will be able to have their likeness temporarily recorded in froth, or learn some tips and tricks from a pro to impress friends.

Mitchell Taylor, category manager for Nescafe Dolce Gusto, said demonstrations are “immensely important” for shoppers.

“They know they will be using this product every morning, and helping them understand how it works is the key to making the sale,” he said.

Taylor recommends retailers always have a machine set up ready for a fast, simple demonstration, with capsules displayed close-by.

De’Longhi and Nestle launched Nescafe Dolce Gusto in October 2012 as an entry-level companion product to Nespresso. The capsule system produces hot and cold beverages, from traditional espresso coffees and frothy cappuccinos to chai lattes and iced tea.
