SYDNEY: The new entry-level PowerShot A480 digital still compact camera from Canon is slimmer, more compact and packs in three more megapixels and the DiG!C III image processor, as well as a new and unique feature to Canon.
“The new PowerShot A480 camera is perfect for newcomers to photography, incorporating simple and intuitive operation with features such as Face Detection and Motion Detection, making it easy to capture great shots every time,” said Canon Australia brand manager – Digital Still Cameras, Consumer Imaging Products Group, Kimberley Langton.
“The refined new design will be a welcome update for consumers who are looking for durability as well as a friendly and compact design.”
Available in four different colours — silver, black, red and blue — and with a 2.5 inch LCD monitor, and 3.3x Optical Zoom Lens, the camera also features 15 scene modes, from Automatic to Special Scene. Users can select the appropriate mode for their photographic scene, such as Portrait, Beach or Kids and Pets.
The camera also has Motion Detection, which analyses motion information to determine whether or not a subject is moving, to reduce the chance of taking blurry images.
Face Detection also distinguishes human faces in each shot and adjusts the focus and exposure for best results. Also, in-camera Red Eye Correction automatically eliminates red eyes caused by flash.
A new and unique feature, Image Inspection Tool, allows users to zoom in on different parts of their shot, such as faces, to check the focusing position and expressions.
The Canon PowerShot A480 (RRP $179) will be available from February 2008 through Canon dealers nationally.
