While Harvey Norman was looking for geeks last month, the retailer will be using its sense of humour for a good cause in its latest competition.

Harveys has launched a Red Nose Photo Competition, calling on consumers to take a photo of themselves with their “best red nose” to be in the running to win 1 of 10 Nikon J1 Twin Lens Compact System Cameras, valued at $888 each.

Red Nose Day will be held on Friday 29 June this year, with Australians encouraged to wear a red nose and raise money to support SIDS and Kids – an organisation that “is dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood and to supporting bereaved families”.

As part of the competition, Harvey Norman is encouraging consumers to go to the Red Nose Me website, which allows users to upload a photo and add features such as red noses, glasses, hats and other zany facial features.

For every photo that is uploaded through the Red Nose Me website, Harveys will donate $1 to SIDS and Kids, up to the value of $25,000. There is also a link to donate directly through the website.

To be part of the Harvey Norman competition, consumers need to sign in to the Harvey Norman Photo Centre Website (either as an existing member or as a new member) and upload their photo, complete with a red nose, by the time the competition closes on 29 June 2012.

It’s worth spending a bit of time creating the perfect red nose look – according to the terms and conditions of the competition, “This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winner”.
