SYDNEY: LG Electronics Australia will launch the follow-up to its debut range of cooking appliances this week consisting of three new ovens and including LG’s first oven to incorporate a built-in colour LCD screen.

The new range is LG’s first complete model refresh since the brand entered the cooking appliances category in November 2004.

“The launch of LG’s premium cooking range and the constant evolution of LG’s technology has boosted LG Electronics’ profile in the competitive upper tier of the whitegoods sector,” said LG Electronics category manager – whitegoods, Glacel Lubrin.

“LG has adopted a more targeted approach when it comes to the release of our products. By introducing two new mid range oven products we are able to cater to the needs and demands of our consumers on a larger scale."

The new range consists of three ovens, the EM550SP (RRP $2,499), EM780SP (RRP $2,999) and the premium EM790SP (RRP $3,499) with built-in colour LCD screen.

“The hero model in this range comes with four-inch LCD monitor that provides 40 auto cook menus, 10 speed cook menus and has 125 recipes to choose from. Once the consumer selects a recipe it automatically sets the time and the temperature that the oven needs for that dish,” said Lubrin.

“What is different about these products is that we are providing 65 litre capacities whereas your standard model that most manufacturers provide is 55 litres, so it provides a bigger cooking space but it has the same product dimensions as a normal oven, so consumers don’t have to reconfigure their entire kitchen.”

All models in the new range feature pyrolytic self-cleaning technology, which cleans the oven interior up to 30 per cent faster than other ovens on the market. The pyrolytic self-cleaning function operates by heating the oven cavity to over 500ºC and carbonising any waste material, leaving consumers to wipe away residue to complete the clean.

“The reason for LG introducing these technologies is the time factor, people have less and less time to do household chores the technology can enable consumers to have more and more time to do other things,” said Lubrin.

The new range also include a variety of in-built safeguards including a flameless and no-heat surface, auto-pot recognition, a residual heat indicator, a child-proof lock and an automatic switch-off function.
