WOW Sight & Sound has delayed the unveiling of its new online superstore, which was set to launch on June 1, due to a few "hiccups" in the development The site is still displaying a teaser message and video that has been on the homepage since May, however the countdown to the June launch date has been replaced with the message “Online Entertainment SuperStore Launching Shortly Stay Tuned…”.
The website was originally set to launch on 1 June…
…but WOW Sight & Sound has pushed back the launch of its new online SuperStore indefinitely.
As Current.com.au exclusively reported in May, the WOW brand name was purchased by Gold Coast couple Darryl and Sharon Williams, trading under the company G & M Direct 2 U Pty Ltd. The Williams bought rights for the online branch of the business, with the intent to relaunch it as an online-only consumer electronics e-commerce venture.
When Current.com.au contacted company spokesperson Sharon Williams today for comment on the delay, she said that the company intended to launch on June 1 or “thereabouts” and that “we’ve probably had just a few little hiccups, but it’s on its way.
“At the moment we’re putting all our energy on launching the website,” she said.
According to a statement released by the company’s media relations representative, the new WOW Sight & Sound brand is “driven to deliver the greatest deals on the best entertainment products, making shopping fun for young and old.
“We want everything about your retail experience to be fun!” the released read. “Whenever you go on 1WOW.com.au, our exciting WOW Sight & Sound Online Superstore, you will find 'Deals that make you go WOW!' With our awesome Online store, we are sure that all Australians will now be able to grab 'Things that make you go WOW' in entertainment.
“How can we give you Deals that make you go WOW?
“Simply because of our buying power we are able to offer to you products at special prices that will WOW you. We also have links with suppliers and source special buys so we can continuously bring you the best deals and latest products via our website!
“You get the benefit of a large established company with great supplier relationships and buying power simply by turning on your computer!!!”
Current.com.au has contacted WOW Sight & Sound for further information on the company’s buying power and suppliers that will be working with the brand.
UPDATE: A representative from WOW Sight & Sound provided the following comments from Sharon Williams in response to Current's enquiries:
“Given the high degree of customisation and the sophistication of the WOW eCommerce platform, the scheduled launch of the new WOW Sight & Sound website has been delayed.
"The IT Team has been working around the clock to ensure when the 20,000 plus product site goes live it is operating perfectly.
"Suppliers have welcomed the new owners of WOW Sight & Sound and are pleased to be supporting the re-launch of the WOW Sight & Sound Online Entertainment Superstore.
"The scheduled launch of WOW Sight & Sound is expected shortly and an announcement will be made on the day of the official launch.
WOW wishes to thank eager supporters and loyal customers who are excitedly awaiting the new launch date.”
