SYDNEY: The resignation of a business director at Electrolux Home Products has resulted in a major sales and marketing “reorganisation” within the company prior to its move to a new head office in Sydney.

Electrolux Home Products has confirmed the resignation of Mike Tinkler, the company’s category business director – food preservation, dish care, food preparation and air care, who will pursue interests “outside the company”.

An Electrolux spokesperson told, Tinkler will remain with the business until the end of the year while it prepares for a transition to new premises in Mascot near Sydney Airport.

Following the resignation of Tinkler, the category structure has been reorganised to bring all product lines under one director. John Brown currently director – operations, has been appointed to the newly consolidated role of director – product marketing, responsible for all product categories.

“To ensure Electrolux continues to build as a major brand in both Australia and New Zealand, Nick Gibson, currently performing the three roles of category business director – Fabric Care, director brand marketing and VP Product Development – Fabric Care, will now focus on brand marketing while still retaining regional responsibility for Fabric Care,” the spokesperson said.

“The local Fabric Care category will be the responsibility of John Brown in his new role.”

In the restructure, sales director David Petrie is to move to the new role of director – strategic planning where he will manage a number of important new market-related projects as well as driving strategic planning for Australia and New Zealand.

Mike Putt, previously strategic business manager, has been  appointed as director – sales responsible for all Australian sales.

“I would describe it as more of a reorganisation than a restructure,” the spokesperson said.

“Such developments are commonplace in modern global companies and reflect the changing dynamics of the market-place and how suppliers and their customers (retailers) conduct business together.”
