It has just been revealed from directors at Harvey Norman Holdings Limited that sales from franchised Harvey Norman complexes, commercial divisions and other sales outlets around the world totalled $4.54 billion for the nine months ending 31 March 2009.

The growth over the businesses around Australia, New Zealand, Slovenia and Ireland represents a 3.6 per cent rise in comparison to the period 1 July to 31 March 2008.

In addition to this like for like sales also increased over the same period by 1.2 per cent.

In relation to the third quarter alone, sales totalled $1.39 billion or an increase of 3.9 per cent. As well as a like for like sales growth of 1 per cent.

In terms of just the Australian side of the business, sales over the quarter ending 31 March 2009 increased by 4.9 per cent and like for like sales witnessed a 3.2 per cent improvement.

“Given the current macroeconomic conditions, retail margins continue to be under pressure,” the company said in a statement.
