Human Mobile Devices (HMD) has announced a range of smartphones under the HMD brand, consisting of the Pulse Pro, Pulse+ and Pulse, with all three models available for under $300.

Each device in the new HMD Pulse range is built to be repairable, allowing owners to replace a damaged display, bent charging port, or a depleted battery using a self-repair kit in partnership with iFixit. HMD predicts that three out of every four devices it sells in Europe in 2024 will be repairable, up from one in three in 2023.

HMD general manager for Australia and Oceania, Brenden Folitarik (pictured below) said, “We are here to deliver something new, exciting and different to Australian consumers and to the industry as a whole. Our inaugural Pulse range epitomises what HMD will stand for in the market, reinforcing that Australians no longer need to decide between design or value, features or fashion. As Human Mobile Devices our focus will always be what is best for Australians, balancing the best in design, technology and value.”

HMD chief marketing officer, Lars Silberbauer added, “We’ve got our finger on the pulse, and recognise consumers’ needs and anticipate market trends; repair is the cornerstone of a fresh chapter in smartphone innovation. Forget the ordinary, this is a new era of smartphone sophistication with substance.”

The HMD Pulse Pro incorporates a market-leading 50MP selfie camera and AI Super Portrait mode with new selfie gesture navigation, capturing photos with a wave of the hand, a finger-heart, thumbs up or two-handed heart sign.

HMD Pulse Pro is available in three colours – Glacier Green, Twilight Purple and Black Ocean. Glacier Green has a colour-matched charger, sold separately and coming soon.

HMD Pulse+ and HMD Pulse both deliver up to 59 hours of battery life. The Pulse+ boasts a 50MP rear camera and depth sensor, while the HMD Pulse comes with a 13MP camera with AI HDR and skin-tone optimisation.

The HMD Pulse Pro is available from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks and Big W for RRP $299.

The HMD Pulse+ is available from JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks and at a later date from Big W, Telstra and Vodafone, for RRP $259.
