UnderCurrent couldn’t help but notice a new electrical store is set to open its doors in Sydney’s inner west, right on the very site formerly occupied by the now shuttered Sony Centre in Drummoyne.

Located on Drummoyne’s busy Victoria Road, the Sony Centre acted as a direct-to-consumer shopfront for the brand, showcasing Sony’s range of home entertainment, digital imaging and computing products. However, in February last year, Sony announced it would be closing its Sydney Sony Centres in Drummoyne and George Street in the CBD, to be replaced with in-mall kiosks, leading to fire sales at the stores.

Now, the once distinctive black facade has been stripped of its Sony branding and the building is set for a re-birth. A teaser poster up on the side of the building promises a new store for brands including Miele, Bosch, Smeg and old Sony CE rival, Samsung.

We wait with bated breath to find out what new store is set to open its doors…
