SYDNEY: Samsung Electronics Australia was today announced as Essendon Football Club’s official Technology Partner for 2007, with Samsung products such as LCD TVs, camcorders and DVD players to be showcased throughout the Bombers Hall of Fame and the Windy Hill facilities to assist the team with training and game preparation.
“Two great teams have joined forces and we are very excited about this new partnership,” said Essendon Football Club managing director, Peter Jackson.
“The sponsorship from Samsung, a world-leading technology company with a strong reputation for quality products, represents the union of two premium brands. Their support is a major mid-season boost for the club,” he said.
At the launch held at Windy Hill, the home of the Essendon Bombers, Essendon Captain and full-forward Matthew Lloyd, as well as Melbourne Victory star and Socceroo striker, Archie Thompson, who recently scored five goals to lead the Samsung-sponsored Melbourne Victory FC to their 2006/07 championship win, were on hand to take part in a shoot-out to celebrate the newly formed partnership.
“More than 17 million people watched an Essendon game in 2006 and our partnership represents a great opportunity to communicate to a large, passionate and loyal group of fans,” said Samsung Electronics Australia general manager – corporate marketing, Kurt Jovais.
Samsung’s sponsorship of sporting properties extends well beyond Essendon Football Club to include the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, Chelsea Football Club, Melbourne Victory FC and the Sydney Roosters.
