Australian Retailers Association’s First Responders Day will return to stores on Thursday 24 June with retailers offering special discounts to front-line workers, thanking them for their service through Covid, bushfires and beyond.

Participating retailers include BCF, Betta Home Living, Designer Appliances, Costco, Hardware & General and The Good Guys, among many others. Retail businesses can register their interest here.

ARA CEO Paul Zahra said this year’s event builds on the strong success of the inaugural First Responders Day held in Australia mid-pandemic in 2020.

“First Responders Day is a fantastic way to acknowledge our brave and tireless professionals and volunteers who keep our community safe and we are pleased this has become a permanent fixture on Australia’s retail calendar. Retailers are keen to show their support and appreciation for this special community for all the work they do in times of crisis,” he said.

“Over the past year we’ve navigated the Covid pandemic and natural disasters including floods and bushfires, and it’s our front-line workers who are always there to respond – the doctors, nurses, police and emergency service personnel to name a few. They do an incredible job to keep us all safe and First Responders Day is the Australian retail community’s way of saying ‘thanks’.”

Offers will be available to Australian-based first responders including medical and health workers (doctors, nurses and paramedics) as well as ambulance staff, police personnel, firefighters, defence and border force personnel, SES, lifesavers and quarantine workers.
