New award category introduced.
Following the return of the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence (EAFE), a program created to develop, support and recognise the next culinary generation of leaders in Australia, Electrolux has launched the 2016 Electrolux People’s Choice Award for restaurant lovers to support their favourite young chefs and waiters.
Commenting on the awards, Electrolux Australia national brand and trade marketing manager, Richelle Barker told Appliance Retailer: “Electrolux is focused on delivering a remarkable consumer experience based on the company’s 90-year professional heritage and the insights the company has from working with people in the hospitality industry.
“Our products are used in the majority of Europe’s top restaurant kitchens and, among other things, the Electrolux Appetite For Excellence Awards acquaints the next generation of professional chefs and hospitality leaders with the products that their mentors have used during their careers.”
Anyone who votes will automatically enter the draw to win a private cooking masterclass experience with Andy Allen, to enjoy with two friends. Following the masterclass, they will then join him for a seasonal lunch at his new restaurant, the Three Blue Ducks Rosebery, which freshly opened its doors in early June.
“These days an enjoyable dining experience is influenced not only by the quality of food, but the entire journey from the moment they walk through the door. Service is king and the success of many restaurants hinges on those customers who return time and time again,” Allen said.
“The power is with the people and it’s really exciting that the public has a chance to pledge their vote and have their voice heard. I’m encouraging everyone who has enjoyed an exceptional dining experience above and beyond expectations to get behind their favourite young chefs and young waiters in this year’s Electrolux People’s Choice Award, so we don’t let these hidden stars remain unnoticed,” he added.
As well as earning the public’s support, the Electrolux People’s Choice Award Young Chef and Young Waiter winners will each receive $1,500 worth of Electrolux product to kit out their kitchen.
