Computer processing chip manufacturer AMD has promoted former national retail sales manager Peter Chambers to its country manager role for Australia and New Zealand.

Chambers replaces Brian Slattery, who has been promoted to Asia Pacific and Japan consumer and multinational corporation sales manager, and will now be based in Singapore.

“I’m excited at the opportunity provided by this new role,” Chambers said in a statement. “AMD’s main goal is to work as closely as possible with our customers and business partners to help them win.

“The recent launch of our second-generation Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) will help continue building on our regional retail channel sales momentum.

“We are excited to introduce a new range of APUs for the mainstream and ultrathin notebook markets, where AMD-based computers provide consumers with an uncompromised visual experience and long battery life.”

Before joining AMD, Chambers worked in sales roles at Fuji Xerox and Lexmark.
