MELBOURNE: Daewoo Electronics has released the first refrigerator on the Australian market with a five-star every rating.

The side-by-side FRN-U20FDBI in ‘luxurious high gloss black’ and FRN-U20DDTI in ‘prestigious stainless steel’ have both received a five-star energy rating from the Government’s Department of the Environment and Water Resources.

Castel Electronics advertising coordinator, Richard Datko, said a key reason for the machines’ energy sipping properties was the inverter technology, which matched compressor speed and output to the amount of food in the refrigerator, saving electricity.

“Refrigerators consume relatively large amounts of energy because they operate continuously. Using an energy-efficient refrigerator will reduce energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.

Both finishes will be available from mid-April, with the black FRN-U20FDBI selling for RRP $3199, while the stainless steel version will sell for RRP $2999.

Datko was confident both models would do well.

“The new Daewoo high end side by side refrigerators are competitively priced and featured therefore we are confident they will compete strongly against the more established brands in the Australian marketplace,” he said.
