Sharp unveiled a suite of products at CES in January, among them the world’s first IoT built-in microwave drawer oven.

Sharp head of CE sales and marketing Greg Hendriks said while Sharp is still to confirm the local launch date for the Microwave Drawer, 2020 will be the year for many new products intended to reignite the home preparation category “Our vision is to provide unique solutions for the changing creativity of the home meal preparation, utilising the space and supporting people with special needs who require products to enhance their lifestyle,” he told Appliance Retailer.

The 24-inch Microwave Drawer is Wi-Fi and Alexa-enabled and features Easy Wave Open.

“Sharp Corporation of Australia continues to innovate with products for the next generation like the Microwave Drawer which was the highlight of the cooking sector for CES 2020,” he said.

At CES Sharp also displayed a new Wi-Fi enabled 24-inch SuperSteam built-in wall oven with steam roast and grill, steam bake, water bath and convection bake, a new dishwasher with power wash, a stainless steel range hood and four-door refrigerator.

Rounding out the new products were a range of AIoT air solutions including Plasmacluster Ion air purifiers that can be controlled from anywhere using a smart device to monitor air quality and filter life.
