SYDNEY: Canon has introduced new online training modules to its eLearning Centre for its latest digital still camera range and retail floor staff who complete all three courses go into the competition to win an Ixus 860IS.

The updated online training modules in Canon’s eLearning Centre now include: Camera Styles, which will help the reseller match the right camera to their customer; Canon Advantage, which helps simplify some of Canon’s new technology including face detection, red-eye removal and optical image stabilization; and Add-On Sales, which suggests various accessories to help resellers with add-on sales including underwater housings, lens adapters and extra batteries.

Participation in the training is free to registered retail floor staff and those who complete the three modules will be asked two questions, with the winning entry scoring a free Ixus 860IS digital still camera.

“The online training helps resellers to better understand the products and technology so that they can effectively explain these to their customers and thereby suggest the right product for their customers,” said Canon Australia product training manager – consumer imaging products group, Heidi Newbery.

“In the early days of compact digital cameras, advances revolved around increasing the number of megapixels. While megapixel count is still increasing, there are a number of new advanced technologies also being introduced such as optical image stabilization and face detection, that are very relevant to consumers.”

Canon is encouraging its retailers to use the training to help them boost their confidence selling Canon products.

“The challenge for our resellers is to stay informed and up to date with these new and advanced technologies and features. The online training modules are Canon’s way of making this process that much easier,” said Newbery.
