Woolworths’ Big W has plans to move its national support centre at Bella Vista in Sydney’s north-west and into separate offices for the first time since 2005. The move, expected for early 2017, is aimed at attracting experienced staff, including designers, buyers and e-commerce experts.

Industry sources say Big W CEO, Sally Macdonald, had signed a lease for a new head office at St Leonards near Sydney’s CBD, according to an article in The Australian Financial Review.

Late last month, Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci appointed Woolworths’ deputy chief financial officer, Colin Storrie to the new position of director of the portfolio businesses, as it separates food and non-food operations.

The move also follows the announcement from Woolworths about its new operating model, which will cut 500 roles from its support office and supply chain and move 1,000 team members from the group office into businesses. This included the possible sale of EziBuy.
