Ringwood East shoppers, Stewart and Meredith Simpson, now have a special place in their hearts for their local Harvey Norman store, after Meredith gave birth in the Harvey Norman Nunawading carpark last week.

Harvey-Baby

It appears they were moving house on July 6 when Meredith’s water broke. They went to Box Hill Hospital but were sent home to wait. Baby Beatrix had other ideas. She entered the world as the family was travelling to the hospital for the second time, according to the Herald Sun.

“We were waiting around at home and I went to the bathroom and … started having contractions,” Meredith said.

The couple called 000 and parked outside Harvey Norman at about 9.30pm, when things started progressing rapidly.

“Stewart was delivering the baby and turned her over and she opened her eyes and was blowing bubbles,” she added.

“Stewart (who delivered the baby) put her on my chest to get that skin-to-skin connection and the ambulance came about five minutes later.”
