AudioQuest has extended its multi-award winning NightHawk headphone range with an additional two models: NightHawk Carbon and NightOwl Carbon for an RRP of $995. The NightHawk Carbon and NightOwl Carbon come with a 50mm dynamic driver with a bio cellulose diaphragm, rubber surround and true voice-coil former to defeat unwanted coloration and distortion.
With the NightOwl Carbon’s closed back design, hidden beneath the central circular portion of the earcups, a vent runs along the perimeter of each dome and exits through a hidden airflow-resistive port. This is designed to effectively relieve the build-up of pressure and ensure no ringing, oscillation or resonance. Both headphones also feature a genuine leather headband, while the ear cups feature Porsche carbon grey metallic high-gloss paint and are made from sustainable, all-natural liquid wood.
Two sets of ear pads are included with both headphones allowing customisation of sound, look and feel. The protein leather ear pads seal tighter for better sound isolation and enhanced treble clarity, while the ultra-suede ear pads are able to breathe freer for greater comfort and have a reduced bass impact.
Both the NightHawk Carbon and NightOwl Carbon come with an improved cable that is now shorter in length, making it easier to use with a desktop or mobile device. The non-braided cable jacket increases durability, eliminates kinking and minimises microphonics, while the improved plugs feature high-purity Tellurium Copper (TeCu) base metal. They also feature microphone and smartphone controls to enable phone calls and playback functions.
