Arlo is adding the Essential Spotlight Camera to its home security range, offering a more affordable option for consumers wanting to start their smart home journey, with one camera for RRP $229 and two cameras for RRP $429.

Available at leading electrical retailers from September, the Essential Spotlight Camera features 1080p HD video, two-way audio, an integrated spotlight with colour night vision and built-in siren that can be triggered automatically or manually.

Its compact wire-free design is weather-resistant for heat, cold, rain and sun and is easy to install anywhere inside or outside the home with a rechargeable battery.

Motion detection alerts will be sent directly to the user’s smartphone and compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT means the camera/s can be easily automated and controlled.

The Essential Spotlight Camera can connect directly to a Wi-Fi network and does not require a base station. For those with an existing Arlo security system, it can be linked to an Arlo SmartHub for enhanced range and battery life.

With the purchase of the Essential Spotlight Camera, customers will receive a three-month trial to Arlo’s AI subscription-based service, Arlo Smart, for access to rolling 30 days of 1080p video recordings. Users can also adjust notification and camera settings, view live streams and recordings, as well as access cloud recordings using Arlo Smart.

Arlo vice president and managing director for Asia Pacific Brad Little said the Essential Spotlight Camera is a simple, plug and play solution that delivers peace of mind.

“Easy to use, affordable and packed with powerful security features including a spotlight, built-in siren and two-way audio, the Essential Camera echoes the same premium design of our other camera solutions. It fits in anywhere and can be coupled with Arlo’s Smart AI computer vision technology that works with other Arlo cameras, doorbells and floodlight to create an all-rounded security solution,” he said.
