Smart home solutions leader and pioneer, Aqara has introduced the Smart Lock U50, designed to bring convenience and added security to Australian homes by transforming traditional key access into a keyless, integrated experience.

The Smart Lock U50 offers multiple secure entry options including Apple home keys, with a tap of an iPhone or Apple Watch. Homeowners can also manage and share home access with one-time and recurring passwords, as well as NFC cards.

Physical keys are also provided, and the lock includes a USB-C port for emergency charging. A rekeyable design can match an existing five-pin key.

Incorporating both Zigbee and Bluetooth communication, the U50 connects directly to the Aqara Home app for setup, lock management and firmware updates without the need for an Aqara hub.

However, an Aqara hub maximises functionality, offering compatibility with Matter-compatible smart home platforms including Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, and more. It also facilitates remote access control and lock management, while allowing the U50 to work with other smart home devices.

Aqara senior vice president of global business and strategy, Cathy You said, “This new addition to our broad selection of smart home products reflects Aqara’s commitment to delivering innovative IoT solutions that are also accessible. We believe products like the U50 can transform the way Australians secure and manage their homes, making smart home tech available to more households.”

Additional features of the U50 include an auto-lock and door status sensing via a built-in gyroscope, easy installation, weather-resistant construction thanks to an IPX5-rated outer panel and up to six months of battery life on a single charge.

The Smart Lock U50 is now available for purchase for RRP $349 at Bing Lee, Officeworks and the Aqara official store.
